Question: Why is the range over which my gate remote works reduced?
There are a number of things which could cause this and in order to figure out what the problem is, you can try the following checks:
Replace the battery in your remote transmitter first. If this doesn’t fix the problem, use your spare remote. You may have to put a new battery in the spare also. If a fresh battery does not solve the problem and a different remote does work, your remote is faulty and needs to be replaced.
If none of your gate remotes works with a new battery, try the next possibility.

There could be interference caused by faulty electrical devices near to where you’re trying to use your gate transmitters. It is a lengthy process trying to identify the faulty device but essential you do because uncontrollable gates can be dangerous.
Turn all your electrical appliances off and see if your gate remote works. If it works with everything off, then turn on each electrical device one at a time, testing your remote to see if it still works. It might take some time, but this can help you find the source of any interference.
Once you know which device is faulty, make sure to leave it turned off and get a qualified professional electrician or the manufacturer to fix it.

Question: How do I open my garage doors or gates by hand?
There are times that things go wrong and for whatever reason and you can’t open your gates or garage door.
Fortunately, most gates and many garage doors are fitted with a manual release mechanism which allows the gate or garage door to be opened and closed if the motors won’t work.
You need to make sure that you have a manual release fitted when your gate or door is installed because it is not always included as standard. If you are not sure, then contact us.
Question: I need to replace my gate remotes but mine is no longer in production. How do I find out what replacement gate remote control is correct?
There seems to be an endless range of gate transmitters from a large number of gate automation manufacturers, so figuring out how to replace yours seems impossible.
You can search our website first to see if the gate remote is still in production. If not, you will need to either replace all your remotes and the receiver in your automation system or find a clone for your out of production gate transmitters. Most fixed code, 433MHz transmitters can be replaced by cloning gate remotes that copy the code form the original transmitters. A fixed code transmitter has dip switches inside the case (a row of small switches that can either be set to up or down). A cloning gate remote can be more robust and cheaper than the original manufacturer’s remote and is usually very easy to program.
Please note that remote controls using 418MHz are no longer legal in the UK. This frequency has been allocated for use by the Emergency Services and so you will need to replace your receiver with a universal receiver and you’ll also need new remotes that operate at 433MHz.
Question: Why won’t my new remote transmitter open my gate or garage door?
Before your new gate or garage door remote control works you have to program it to communicate with the receiver in your garage door or gate automation system. Some remotes have a learn button on the receiver and others have dip-switches inside the transmitter and receiver that need to be in the same positions. Cloning gate remotes can be programmed from your existing transmitter.
