Simon van Lessen

Since the early 1980s Simon van Lessen has worked in the domestic and commercial security industry. Initially as a subcontractor and security engineer, Simon installed alarms, access control systems and early smart home devices for major UK security companies such as Modern Alarms. By the late 1980s, Simon had started his own installation company and had expanded into gate automation installation, repair and maintenance.

Towards the end of the 1990s, Simon set up Linkcare to supply installers with high quality gate automation kits, motors, parts and accessories imported from Europe. Linkcare was one of the first official UK agents for the Italian gate automation and home automation giant Nice. As an ex-installer with considerable first-hand knowledge of the issues faced on site plus a wealth of product knowledge, Simon provided much-needed gate automation support and training.

Since 2000, Simon has run Linkcare Ltd as its MD and has developed the company into a respected and successful supporter of gate automation installers throughout the UK. Today, Linkcare is the Southern UK’s official partner to Nice, and the UK’s main distributor of Elka, Life Automation and Erreka. The company has its warehouse and R&D facility on the outskirts of London. Linkcare’s online e-commerce website sells over 2500 gate automation, access control and other automation products from all major manufacturers.

Simon now shares his enormous gate automation installation, troubleshooting, repair and safety knowledge with trade installers by phone and email, as well as regularly contributing to the Linkcare blog.
